Yes. UniFi Access readers support cards and fobs using all 13.56 MHz NFC protocols, including ISO 14443A, ISO 14443B, and ISO 15693.
UniFi Access supports electric strikes, electric bolts, and magnetic locks through both dry and powered relays (12V, up to 1A). It can also integrate with most third-party locks.
If a lock does not support 12V powered relays or draws more than 1A, a dry relay with an external power supply must be used.
Ubiquiti also offers magnetic and electric locks that are recommended if you do not already have door hardware.

Both magnetic and electric locks serve important purposes:
- Magnetic locks are fail-safe, meaning the door unlocks during a power outage.
- Electric locks are fail-secure, meaning the door remains locked during a power outage.
Proper planning is important when designing your access control system. In many cases, we recommend using USW Mission Critical, which includes battery backup to maintain door operation during outages.
Any magnetic or electric lock that operates at 12V and up to 1A can be powered directly by the UniFi Access Hub. Locks that exceed these requirements can still be used with a dry relay and external power supply.
We recommend Ubiquiti Access Lock Magnetic and Access Lock Electric, as they are fully vetted and tested. Some lower-quality third-party locks may experience issues over longer cable distances.
No. For security reasons, UniFi Access readers must connect to a UniFi Access Control Hub and cannot connect directly to a PoE switch.
